Map Preferences

ArenaPvP lets players block specific maps from their matchmaking pool. If you don't enjoy a particular arena map, you can exclude it so the matchmaker avoids selecting it for your matches.

How It Works

  1. Open the Map Preferences UI — Use /arena maps (or aliases: /arena m).
  2. Browse by category — The UI shows all available arena categories (e.g. 2-FFA, 4-T, 4-TCTO).
  3. Select a category — See every map (template) available in that category.
  4. Toggle maps — Block or unblock individual maps. Blocked maps appear with a red indicator.
  5. Close — Your preferences are saved immediately and persist across sessions.

Matchmaking Behavior

When the matchmaker creates a match, it takes all participating players' blocked maps into account:

  • The matchmaker computes the union of all blocked maps from the matched players.
  • It then picks a random template from the remaining available maps in that category.
  • If the combined blacklists block all maps in the category, the match is not formed. Players remain in queue and receive a message.
info

You cannot block every map in a category — at least one must remain available.

Queue Interaction

  • If you block a map while in queue, you are automatically removed from the queue to prevent match conflicts. You'll need to re-queue.
  • Blacklist checks happen before players are removed from the queue, so no one loses their queue position unnecessarily.
